The Programme aims to:

1. Set up support networks for drug prevention

The programme will set up and run support networks for professionals and for parents.
The purpose of the programme is to develop the role and strengthen the capacities of parents and professionals. It will provide a basis for effective networking involving the exchange of good practice and the development of skills. In cooperation with regional, national and international partners it will help to avoid duplication of work, and achieve ongoing and thus sustainable multiplication effects.

2. Develop an inventory on prevention activities

The programme will create and manage an inventory containing information on prevention programmes and projects.

The inventory will be an on-line resource for methodologies, potential partners, centres of excellence and examples of good practice, national and international programmes and developments. It will include a database on these topics. The database will be an essential resource for the support networks and for the virtual training centre.

3. Create a virtual training centre for drug prevention

The programme will bring together expertise and human resources to organise regular initial and further training for professionals who are involved in prevention work.
Initial seminars will generate knowledge and competences in training. This work will inform the further development of course content, approaches and methods. Distant learning methods and internet seminars offer new opportunities to facilitate training and knowledge transfer to remote and isolated communities. The virtual training centre will link to the support network and to the inventory.
